Dilemma
There's a spider in here, and it's quite a big one. Now we all know that I am terrified/repulsed by spiders, and as it was in a place that was inaccesible to my killing skills, I reached for the bug spray and gassed it. That made it wobbly, and then made it drop and run (in a wonky sorta way). Now I don't know where it is, nor if it is alive or dead. Now a large part of me thinks that if I can't see it then it doesn't really matter, but the more realistic/terrified part of me thinks that the spider will rest up somewhere for a couple of hours until the gassing has worn off, and then it will come looking for revenge. So, we come to the dilemma. Do I:
Lemma 1: Hunt for this beast and destroy it, then retire to bed safe in the knowledge that it is no more.
or
Lemma 2: Do I go to bed anyway, be slightly paranoid and have weird dreams, then be worried its gonna be me all day tomorrow.
I have to say that give the late hour and my desire to have something resembling an early nigth (at least by current standards), then proposition 2 looks the more promising. But I'll just give it another few minutes in case it comes crawling out of hiding...
